This blog post is a bit different to the other posts, it's shorter and more of a diary style.

The week started off with placement, 9-5 every day, but with the nice weather outside, the days flew by! I was working on mass spectroscopy, weighing coral samples and getting isotope data for my report.
On Tuesday, I went shopping spontaneously with Amy, who bought a new top, and we grabbed cocktails at the best bar in town (couleur café if you haven't read my other posts).
Dinner at Saveur Latine Bordeaux
Wednesday evening, after working on the Spain trip report with my group, I went out for dinner with Amy, Molly, Noelle and Tamika. It was a nice girly evening, we chose to go to a mexican restaurant (Saveur Latine Bordeaux). The weather was lovely so we ate outside. The waitress was really friendly and food service was pretty quick. We all had the formule which is a set menu but usually good value for money. For starters I had nachos and guacamole, for main, we all had fajitas, which were great! The wraps came in a cute dish and we each had our own fajita fillings. For dessert I had panna cotta.
This weekend has been a really fun one, with the added bonus of having an extra day off as a bank holiday, or in french un jour férié.
Friday was great, I was able to leave my placement early, so popped home to get ready for the Erasmus Bye Bye Ball. I went to Natalie's before it, then we all headed there together. The venue was really nice, in a Mercure Hotel function room with a roof top bar and terrace to look out over the river. The views were amazing, so were the drinks. The event was free, and we were given complimentary food and drinks !

On Saturday I went to Digital Abyss at the submarine base in Bordeaux (la base sous-marine). It was an artistic light exhibition of the deep sea and was incredible. The artist, Miguel Chevalier is so talented, as he uses different software to represent different phenomenons and ecosystems that occur in the deep sea, and all exhibits were interactive.

That evening I went for dinner around a french friend's house and he cooked his 'legendary' carbonara. We had garlic bread as apéro, then after eating Thibault played guitar for us, it was a pretty chilled evening, but nice to practice french encore.
As the weather was so good, on Sunday we hit the beach. It was so nice to chill for the afternoon in the sun.

Keep posted for more updates on useful facts about Bordeaux (and random ones) as well as the typical life of an English girl trying to be French in a foreign city. Much love Ellie xx
