About Me

The sea, the great unifer is man's only hope.”—Jacques Yves Cousteau.

Growing up with monthly trips to Cornwall, taking advantage of having family to visit and therefore stay with, exposed me to the ocean from a young age. My earliest memories are of my Dad and I wandering the cliffs of Gwithian, St Ives Bay, pointing out the variations in sediment forms and geographic features.

I am an oceanographer turned palaeoclimatologist, with a background in Oceanography and Geology. My curiosity in the coastal features I revisited time and again in Cornwall and my love of the ocean necessitated in an MSci in Oceanography with French from the University of Southampton. Being surrounded by academic researchers, communicators and artists, I was inspired to continue in research but soon realised that despite all having a common ground - a passion for the ocean and climate - we were not communicating the issues in the same way.  â€‹

I first started this site documenting my life whilst living in Bordeaux, France in 2017. I've always been able to lose myself in reading and writing since I was young, but that year, when I was away from family and friends, I found writing to be my solace.

This site is now aimed to fuel curiosity about global issues like environment and sustainability with the hope it provides something for everyone and helps educate you on some topics significant to our planet. Whether you have a background in oceans and nature, are a curious wanderer or are climate conscious, I hope my words provide you with some inspiration.

Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.”—John Muir, naturalist

My passion for the outdoors has necessitated in finding new trails to explore, taking remedy in breathing fresh air and discovering endless views of rolling hills which appear out from densely populated forest. Whether I am walking in the woods or by the sea, I feel so lucky that I can apply my research and understanding of climate to some of the big issues we face surrounding global changes.
